| Great Food
began life in a small factory unit in Watford in 1999. The
market response to their high-quality, innovative range
was exciting and expansive and it soon became clear that
the growing demand could not be contained in the existing
premises.
Great Food had already
formed a close relationship with Gilbert’s
Kosher Foods for both raw material supply and distribution
to their major supermarket customers. In 2001, a new company
was formed with two of the Directors of Gilbert’s
and it was decided to expand Gilbert’s current state
of the art, EC approved plant in Milton Keynes to house
a new fish and vegetarian delicatessen manufacturing facility
to the highest national and European health and safety requirements.
We can now boast to having the only Kosher
and Halal production facility to operate at the higher global
level standard of the British Retail Consortium. In addition
to this we are also approved suppliers to the National Health
and UK Prison Services, under STS Technical Accreditation.
We operate to the religious standards of
Union of Orthodox Rabbis of Britain, (Kedassia Board), the
United Synagogue Kashrut Division, (London Beth Din), and
the Halal Food Authority.
Our aim is to manufacture traditional and
generic food suitable for all consumers:
